The department was started in 1963. During the year 2023-24, 14972 cases were treated in the outdoor and 838 in indoor section. 822 operations including those for retinal detachments, plastic reconstruction of the lids, orbital reconstructions etc. were done. The out-patients’department including the Glaucoma Clinic and FFA (Fundus Fluroscein Angiography) & Automated Perimetry (Humphrey Visual Field Analysis) were open on all working days.

The Department is holding regular eye screening camps in association with the Mobile Medical Unit of this Pratishthan. During the year under report, a total of 3360 patients were screened in different eye camps. A total 344 cataract operations done free of cost under Community Health Service programmes.
